Bottesini and the BuddhaNote the linguistic similarity between "bodhi" and "Bottesini." Certain scholars have energetically explored the connection between Bottesini and the Buddha. The only living branch of the Bottesini family (descended from Giovanni Bottesini's uncle Paolo Bottesini) claims direct descent from Siddhartha Gautama himself!However, if one examines tradition depictions of the Buddha in a state of meditation, one sees that he is holding both hands in a position very similar to the german bow grip. This leads one to conclude that Bottesini cannot be descended from the Buddha; furthermore, it seems possible that Buddhism itself is a heresy of Bottesinism. Bottesini did attempt to visit Bodh Gaya at one point.
